To ensure that your microwave oven gets back to normal and starts heating, then you may have to first check what the issue is and then try to resolve it. Afterall a microwave can easily be termed as the lifeline of any kitchen space and without it, you may feel slightly handicapped. The following are the main causes and solutions of microwave not heating and no power.

1. Fuse of microwave may be blown

The first possible cause of microwave not heating and no power could be a blown off fuse.  The fuse is basically a safety device which stops the flow of the electrical current to the appliance. If the fuse is blown then the microwave oven won’t work and won’t heat.  You may have to replace it in order to bring your oven back to working condition.  The fuse can be tested using a multimeter for continuity.  If you find no continuity, replace the microwave fuse.

2. Fault with the microwave door switch

If the door switch of your microwave is faulty, then this could be another reason why it may not be heating and showing no power.  The door switch is basically a small sized switch which closes when the door is closed. If the switch has gone bad, then the microwave won’t turn on and hence wont heat. To test the switch, you can use a multimeter. If you find it bad, make sure you get it replaced soon.

Do you recall slamming your microwave door? Well if yes then this too could be a reason of it showing no power and not heating.  Slamming the door can blow away the switch which leads to no power and no heating.  For this you will have to check the fuse and remove and replace it if the need be.  Check the fuse using a multimeter as mentioned above for continuity. On finding no continuity, replace the fuse.
