Microwave not
heating food is a commonly occurring problem. A microwave transfers heat to
food items through a process called ‘Microwave Convection’. There are many
reasons behind “microwave not heating” food. In order to know your microwave
better, it is very important to understand these reasons.
Reasons behind microwave not heating
Diode burn: A microwave
has some very important parts called diode and magnetron. The diode converts
incoming A/C power to high voltage D/C. This high voltage is used to provide
energy to magnetron which in return emits heat energy to cook food. So when the
diode fails or burns, magnetron does not get power to emit heat energy to cook
food.
Magnetron Failure: One of
the most common reason of microwave not heating is magnetron failure. A
magnetron uses high voltage to produce microwave frequency to cook food. If the
microwave is turned on when it is empty, this cause the magnetron to burn out.
A burned magnetron has to be replaced as it cannot be repaired.
Faulty door switch: Another
common reason behind microwave not heating is faulty door switch. Most
microwave models normally have 3 door switches. When either of the door
switches go bad, microwave does not heat food. In some case, if the door switches
becomes defective, microwave needs repair.
Faulty capacitor: The
capacitor works with the diode to convert the A/C power to D/C voltage. If the
capacitor is burned out, the entire high voltage circuit stops working. As a
result the magnetron cannot be powered and microwave does not heat. A powerless
magnetron cannot emit heat to cook food.
Faulty Transformer: Defective
transformer stops a microwave from heating food. When the transformer burns,
the process of converting A/C power to D/C does not start. As a consequence
magnetron could not be powered and a powerless magnetron cannot emit heat to
cook food. In such situation a microwave needs repair.
These are some
common reasons behind microwave not heating problem but there can be other
reasons as well. Call a professional service provide for microwave repair if it
fails to heat efficiently.
What is included in microwave repair service?
The PRO visits
client’s site and troubleshoots the microwave. The PRO looks for all possible
reasons behind microwave heating problem. After the actual problem is
identified, PRO describes the problem to the customer and suggests a possible
repair or replacement. On customer consent, the PRO repairs the microwave.
