Dengue fever is one of the most deadly mosquito bite related diseases in the world and is caused by dengue virus.  This disease is spread through several species of the Aedes type mosquito. The virus is of 5 different types which may vary in terms of complications, effects and symptoms.  There are various ways to identify dengue fever and for this it is important to know the various signs and symptoms. Several people including teens and children may experience no symptoms during a mild case of the dengue fever.  If the signs and symptoms occur then they begin to show about 4 to 7 days after the bite of the infected mosquito. Dengue fever causes high fever of about 104 degree Fahrenheit and this fever is usually accompanied with other signs such as headache, nausea, vomiting, pain behind the eyes, swollen glands, rashes and joint and muscle pain etc.  Most people recover from these symptoms in about a week or so but in some cases, the symptoms may worsen and can even lead to life threatening conditions.  The following are some of the serious problems that may be caused:

  1. Blood vessels may get damaged and may start leaking. This may last for about a day or two.
  2. A lot of clot-forming cells in the bloodstream may drop in number. This can further lead to a severe and dangerous type of dengue fever which is known as dengue hemorrhagic fever.

After this, the Recovery state may occur and in this state, there is resorption of the leaked fluid back into the bloodstream. This too last for about 2 to 3 days. There are many ways to identify this state as well.
