With time the shine of your wooden furniture fades away. To bring back the lost luster you need to polish them. Broadly speaking, there are 2 types of wood polish: Chemical Polish and Home made polish. Chemical or synthetic polish available in the market just coats the surface of wood and gives furniture a shiny look. Synthetic polish does not moisturizes and heals the wood. Also shine given by them does not last very long. On the other side, homemade polish for your wooden furniture not only provides shine to furniture but also nourishes them.
4 simple homemade polish for your wooden furniture that will nourish them and will keep them shiny for a longer time are:
Lemon & Olive Oil Mix:

Mix 1 cup Olive Oil and 1/2 cup lemon juice . Pour this mix on a soft piece of cloth and gently rub it on the furniture in circular motion. If the wood looks dry, let the mix set on the surface and then pour some more polish on the cloth and buff the dull surface to shiny one.
Beeswax & Olive Oil Polish:

Melt 1/2 cup of beeswax in a metal bowl over a pot with hot water in the bottom. Add 1 1/2 cup of Olive Oil to the melted wax and mix well. Pour the mixture into a glass jar and let it harden. When you want to polish the furniture, microwave this mix for 20-30 seconds. Dab the melted mix onto a clean cloth and apply it gently on the wooden surface in circular motion. When it dries, rub in the direction of wooden grains with other clean piece of cloth. This polish protects the wood from outside moisture and restores necessary moisture inside the wood. It gives wood a nice healthy glow.
You can buy Beeswax from shops that sell honey or from hardware stores that sell paint, polish, lubricating automobile oil etc.

Article is incorrect, do NOT use food oils like Olive Oil. They will go rancid. Use an oil that does not go rancid like Mineral Oil. Google it, or check out this link: https://adebtfreestressfreelife.com/how-to-polish-wood-like-a-pro/

Hello. I have allot of old furniture to polish. Being an avid DIY’er, I want to take up the polishing work myself. The old furniture polish has to be removed with sand paper so that I can have a uniform polish colour on all furniture. I was thinking of buying ready made polish from Asian Paints or others and using that. How can I make my own professional polish with a color tint at home? How do I add dark streaks on the wood to give a good finish?
can you please detail out the process or send me a link where I can check out making of color polish and its application? Also, I would like to coat the final polish with a melamine or lacquer coating for added protection. How do I do that?
Thanks.
