1. Fill the hole in the walls

If you have a hole in the wall, then all you need to do is to visit a hardware store and get a kit which includes a mesh, a little spackle and a tool.  Use these items to fill the hole and once it is fixed, wait for it to dry and then sand it to smoothen it.  Once it’s smooth and looks prime, then paint it and you are done.

2. Unclogging a drain

Another common renter accident that you may experience is a clogged drain. For this issue you don’t need to contact the landlord. You can easily unclog it on your own.  For this, you must first unscrew the P trap and then use a wrench to or channel lock pliers to slide the trap off the drain from the sink as well as the pipe.   In case you are unable to do so, you can also take help of the handyman or a local plumber. While in most cases, this solves the problem, but if the drain is still unclogged, then you can use a plumber’s snake in the drain.  Now reinstall the p trap once the issue is resolved.

3. Resolving the issue of broken or loose tiles

Another renter accident that you can treat on your own is loose or broken tiles. It is very common to see broken tiles or those which are just about to come out. If you wish to solve this issue, then you can easily do it on your own.  In case of a fallen tile, you can use an adhesive to paste it back again. However if it is broken but not yet out completely, then use a preheated iron to heat the glue that was previously used.  Make sure you protect the tile while doing so and a towel works best for this purpose.
