Dengue is a disease or infection which is caused by the biting of an infected mosquito and is very common in our country. It is true that there are many ways to treat the symptoms of this disease but in some cases, the effects last for a long time and may even become quite serious. It is a fact that several people in India and outside die of this disease every year and the number keeps going up. Precaution is always better than cure and it is best to try and prevent dengue altogether. There are many dengue preventive measures as advised by experts and they can be followed to avoid the risk. Some of the preventive measures and tips are given as follows:

1. Keep your home and surroundings clean

The first and the most effective dengue preventive measures as advised by experts is to keep your home and surroundings clean always.  If your immediate surroundings are clean and hygienic then mosquitoes won’t be able to breed around you, thus cutting down the risk of infectious bite and hence the condition. Dust and mop regularly and make sure you make cleanliness a habit rather than something which is forced upon.

It is thus important for you to not let water collect anywhere near you and your house.  Empty pots, vases, bird feeders, pet feeder bowls and other such containers on a regular basis and make sure you do not let water collect in your gardens as well.  Check the hidden water bodies like drains, tanks and manholes on a regular basis and keep them clean.
