Nothing can be more frustrating than a slow computer. Although there can be multiple reasons for a slow computer, these quick and easy tips to speed up a slow computer:
Uninstall unused programs
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall the programs which you do not use. New PCs come with a whole load of programs you will never use, and you probably don’t even know they exist.
Selective Startup
Go to Run > msconfig and deselect the processes/services which you do not need. This also eats up a lot of CPU memory and makes your computer slow.
Delete Temporary Files
Temporary files are created on your computer through everyday tasks and can remain on your hard disk, slowing the computer down. Getting rid of these files, including your internet history and cookies, should give you a larger amount of hard disk space, speeding up your PC.
Go to My Computer > C: > Windows > Temp and delete the files older than the present day.
Increase computer/laptop storage
If your hard disk is filling up, this can also be a reason for a slow computer. Either delete some unwanted data or install a bigger or additional hard drive.
Spyware and Viruses
If the above mentioned tips didn’t work, your system might be affected by a virus or spyware which is slowing down your computer. You may purchase/install an anti-virus software to kill those viruses and make your computer healthy again.
