2. Shutter speed

Another point of difference which can help you decide which is better, SLR or DSLR is the shutter speed.
SLRs have shutter speed range from 1 second to one-thousandth of a second whereas on the other hand, DSLRs have shorter range of about 1/4000^th to 1/8000^th of a second. This means that you can record much faster images or activities on DSLRs in comparison to SLRs.

Shutter speed is an important difference between both the devices and might be the deciding factor.

3. Functional differences

When comparing SLRs and DSLRs you may definitely need to consider the functional differences as well.
It is a fact that DSLRs use much newer technology and have a range of features which SLRs may not have. For example, you can preview pictures in case of DSLRs and also edit and delete them but this option is not available in the case of SLRs.
There are several other differences between the two such as storage capacity, flexibility, speed and others.
In case of DSLRs, one can also change lenses since they offer the option of interchangeable lenses but this feature too is not available in the case of SLRs.
