It is very difficult to imagine living without an inverter these days, isn’t it? Well when the power supply goes off then it is the inverter that we depend upon to provide us with the required amount of electricity supply for powering important devices like lights, fans and others. But sometimes we face the issue of inverter not charging and this can make matters difficult. There can be many reasons for inverter not charging and it is important to know them so as to get the issue resolved. The following are some of the common reasons for inverter not charging.

1. A dead battery

REASON: One of the most common reasons for inverter not charging is a battery which is dead altogether.

SOLUTION: The only solution for this problem is the replace the battery. This means that the life of the battery is complete and there is no way to repair it. You can easily purchase an inverter battery yourself by either going to the market or ordering it online. You can also ask a professional to replace the battery for you.

2. Burnt rectifiers

REASON: Another possible reason why your inverter may not be charging is because of burnt rectifiers. Rectifiers are basically step down transformers which tend to get burnt in some cases.

SOLUTION:In this case, you may have to get your UPS repaired. This situation arises if the cooling fan of UPS is not working properly or if the UPS is set at to a great degree hot spot.  Make sure the quality as well as nature of the internal circuitry are good to avoid this problem.

3. Melted fuses

REASON: Out of the several reasons for inverter not charging, one could be melted fuses.  The main causes for blown fuses include reverse polarity or short circuit within the appliance. Also if the appliance is being over operated or used, then even in that case the fuse can melt or blow off.

SOLUTION:   In this case, you first need to disconnect the device and then get a new one installed by taking help of a professional. Avoid replacement on your own as it can prove to be complicated.

4. Loose Battery connections

REASON: Another common reason for inverter not charging could be loose battery connections.  If the battery has been placed slightly loose then the inverter may not charge properly or at all.

SOLUTION: In this case, you must check the battery terminals for corrosion and then clean and clamp them properly.  If you are unable to clean or check the battery terminals yourself, then it is better to take help of someone who is experienced in doing this.
