Check the temperature setting on the thermostat

Check the elements

CAUSE: In most water supplies around the world, there is presence of minerals which do not get removed even during the purification process.  Warming the water can lead to these minerals clumping together and settling on the bottom of the water tank.  This means they tend to get coated on the water heater elements present in the geyser.  Due to this the geyser has to work harder to heat water and this sometimes results in overheating of the elements and thus the water.

SOLUTION: If this is the case, then you may have to replace the heating element as it may have burned out.

Problem with the thermostat

CAUSE: Besides a higher temperature setting, you may also be facing problems with your thermostat which may be causing overheating of the water.  If the thermostat is faulty or defective, it won’t show a red light sign which is usually an indicator that the water has warmed up. Problem with the pressure release valve

CAUSE: Another possible cause of an overheating geyser is problem with the pressure release valve. If your pressure release valve has failed or stuck up then it won’t allow steam to release or escape when the unit has overheated.  This could lead to damaging of the tank and may even cause accidents and injuries to homeowners.
